Otago Peninsula - Natures Wonders – Royal Albatross Colony – City | 6 hrs

230

Visit one of New Zealand’s most renowned eco-tourism areas, and the Royal Albatross colony.

Natures Wonders and The Royal Albatross tour is a 6-hour return trip travelling the Otago Peninsula low road to Taiaroa Head, with a drive-by look at Otakou Marae on the way.

Royal Albatross Centre

Upon arrival at the Royal Albatross Centre you have the unique opportunity to view the Royal Albatross as you enjoy a 1-hour guided tour of the colony.

We then enjoy a bit of lunch (at your own expense) before heading to the other stunning wildlife sanctuary of the day – Nature’s Wonders.

Natures Wonders

Here we take a 1-hour guided tour in a small coach over farmland to the wildlife viewing area. Or if you are feeling a little more adventurous upgrade to the exhilaration of an 8-wheel drive off-road all-terrain Argo vehicle, that takes you to the same wildlife area. See Ticket DND-T009 to purchase your upgrade. Amidst truly spectacular scenery we’ll see; the world’s rarest penguins, Hoiho the ‘Yellow Eyed’, the little Blue Penguins, the New Zealand Fur Seals and Cormorants (shags) all living in their natural environment.

Dunedin City Sites

We return to the city via the high road for the most picturesque scenery towards the Pacific Ocean on one side, the Otago Harbour on the other and Dunedin City straight ahead.
We will also visit Baldwin St (steepest street in the world) and the Dunedin Railway Station before returning you to your cruise ship by the required time.

Contact us for more information.

Please note, during the period 17th September to 23rd November, as this is the mating season for the wildlife, The Albatross Colony have now modified their tour during these dates, so the tour is still possible. What the tour will not include is the use of one of their viewing hides. They still take you to other viewing opportunities and the rest of the tour content is the same.
